Each time I've read this, it is so hard to put down, even the second time when I kind of remembered what was going to happen. However clever Kant may have been, prose style took a turn for the worse in his systematic treatment. Succinct and very good also. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. After all, like his hero, Humphrey Bogart, Reed is a sucker for a damsel in distress. Something is in the basket. Medical theory and practice of the 1700s developed rapidly, as is evidenced by the extensive collection, which includes descriptions of diseases, their conditions, and treatments. I was definitely sorry to see the end of this story.
